About
I'm Cristian Barbosa Chombo, a photographer originally from Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, now living in the Outer Richmond in San Francisco. Two places with almost nothing in common, except that both taught me to pay attention to light.
Juárez gave me color: marigolds, mercado light, murals, pavement, music, and afternoons that turn everything gold. My edits lean into that. I push the palette past what a camera captures, chasing the way a place feels rather than how it strictly looks.
San Francisco gave me resilience. Out in the Outer Richmond, the fog rolls in off Ocean Beach and turns everything soft and grey and quiet. Shooting here taught me to stay patient, keep showing up, and let negative space do the talking.
Every photo I take is made with that resilience and passion. I also write music for the images, because each frame has a sound in my head: a rhythm, a texture, or a melody that helps me understand what the photo is trying to express.
This site is one body of work: warm and cool, loud and quiet, color and fog moving together.
